HOW TO PRINT AND ASSEMBLE
YOUR A4 PDF PATTERN?

IN THREE STEPS

They are much easier to tame than they seem.

Properly printing an Atelier Brunette PDF pattern in A4 format is the first step to starting your sewing project. Three simple steps: choose your size, print to the correct scale, assemble the pages.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR PDF PATTERN

What is an Atelier Brunette PDF pattern?

An Atelier Brunette PDF pattern is a digital file sent by email, available in two print formats: A4 (at home) and A0 (at a professional printer), and accompanied by an illustrated instruction booklet, bilingual French/English.

All sizes from 34 to 50

WHAT MATERIALS ARE NEEDED TO PRINT YOUR PATTERN?

Before printing, a few simple tools are enough to achieve accurate and true-to-scale results.

HOW TO TAKE YOUR MEASUREMENTS AND CHOOSE YOUR SIZE?

Taking your measurements is the step that allows you to choose the right size even before opening the PDF file:

three measurements are enough to find your size on the Atelier Brunette chart.

Once you have identified your size, also compare it to the pattern’s measurement chart to choose the right size to sew.

HOW TO SELECT YOUR SIZE ON THE PDF?

On the PDF, each size corresponds to a distinct layer.

Layers are only visible in the Adobe Acrobat Reader PDF viewer (free and on computer only).

Simply display the layers and check only the one corresponding to your size before printing: the other sizes remain hidden, for a clearer pattern.

The Info and Pages layers must be kept as they indicate page numbers and assembly marks.

HOW TO PRINT AT 100% SCALE

THE 5X5 CM SQUARE TEST STAGE

The test square is a marker printed on the pattern that allows you to check that the print respects the actual scale of the garment and to avoid unpleasant surprises when assembling and cutting your sewing pattern.

Print only the page containing the test square.

In the print options, choose 100% scale or "actual size."

Never check "fit to page," as this setting distorts the pattern.

Take a ruler and measure the square:

it should be exactly 5 cm x 5 cm.

Correct the printer's scale before printing the pattern.

HOW TO ASSEMBLE YOUR A4 PATTERN PAGES?

1

Trim or fold the edges of each page along the guidelines.

2

Locate the page numbering and the assembly marks indicated on the edge of each sheet.

3

Cut and assemble with adhesive, aligning with the diamond markers.

4

Assemble all the lines to obtain a board gathering all the pieces of the sewing pattern.

5

Cut your pieces perfectly along the lines.

PROFESSIONAL PRINTER OPTION (A0 FORMAT)

The A0 format can be printed by a professional printer such as Patterns for you, on one or several large sheet without cutting: there is no assembly required, the pieces are cut directly according to the chosen size.

This option is suitable for those who prefer to save time on assembly, or who do not have a printer at home.

YOUR QUESTIONS ABOUT SEWING PATTERN PRINTING

How do I choose the right size for my PDF sewing pattern?

Display the layers in your Adobe Acrobat Reader PDF viewer and select only the layer corresponding to your size before printing.

The Info and Pages layers must be kept as they indicate page numbers and assembly marks.

How do I print my sewing pattern on A4 without distorting it?

Print at 100% scale, without checking the "fit to page" option, and verify that the test square measures 5 cm x 5 cm.

What is the difference between an A4 pattern and an A0 pattern?

The A4 format can be printed at home and then assembled page by page; the A0 format is printed by a professional printer on a single sheet, ready to cut without assembly.

My test square is not 5 cm x 5 cm, what should I do?

Please check that the print scale is set to 100% (or "actual size") and not "fit to page," then reprint the test page before printing the full pattern.

How to assemble the pages of my PDF pattern?

Align the markers indicated on the edge of each page (at Atelier Brunette, these are diamonds), assemble the pages line by line, then assemble the lines together to obtain the complete pattern sheet.

Print, assemble, cut, now you're an expert!
