THE INSPIRING

PAULE

GUEST OF THE MONTH

I learned to use a sewing machine when I was a child, on my mother's machine, but I've really been sewing since I became a mother myself. I started by sewing very simple skirts for my daughter and have progressed through various projects.

I like to alternate between timeless, classic projects and more original, graphic pieces. It really depends on my desires and my clothing needs.

And I have a huge passion for Atelier Brunette Gabardines, which I've sewn countless times (I even sewed my wedding dress from Off-White Gabardine, no less!)

I'm a size 46, and sewing allows me to make clothes that fit me well and that I don't always find in stores.

Which sewing pattern did you choose?

For this project, I fell in love with the shape of LA Chemisette structurée, but the catch is that I don't wear many shirts.

However, I love dresses, so I simply wanted to lengthen it to make it a perfect piece for sunny days, whether for the beach with sandals or for a slightly chic evening with heels.

AND THE FABRIC?

MATERIAL

The Viscose Linen Sya drapes beautifully, making it ideal for a summer project as linen is a natural and very breathable fabric. For me, it's the perfect blend for a dress to pack in your suitcase for summer.

SUPPLIES

- Add 1 meter of fabric compared to the initial model (i.e. 2.65m for a size 46).

- Remember to provide extra buttons (I sewed 11 of them).

THE STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

STEP 1

Cut out all the pattern pieces. Draw a line widthwise on pieces 1 and 5 and cut.

STEP 2

Lengthen them by 50 cm (to be adjusted according to your size and the desired look) with pattern paper or taped-together sheets. Also, lengthen button placket 4 by the same length as pieces 1 and 5.

Then sew following the pattern instructions.

I loved sewing this pattern because the finishes are gorgeous.

French seams take a little time but provide maximum satisfaction.

I think this pattern adapts really well to all body types.
