THE TALENTED SOPHIE

From the Instagram account @chiffon_magazine

Sophie lives in Toulouse, is 1.69m tall and wears size 36/38.

Can you introduce yourself in three words?

Mother (x 3), cellist, DIY enthusiast

How long have you been sewing?

I have been actively sewing for almost 15 years.

How did sewing come into your life?

My mother being very crafty, I was introduced to the fiber arts at a very young age: knitting, embroidery, sewing.

What does sewing give you?

This activity is like a superpower to me, it gives me confidence!

Would you prefer TV series or music while you sew?

More like a series, but mostly in silence.

If you had to describe yourself through sewing, what would your keywords be?

Meticulousness, patience, determination.

What is THE must-have pattern from Atelier Brunette for you, the one you could sew and re-sew?

LA Robe Pantalon , already sewn 3 times (including once for my wedding)! But tied with LA Jupe and LE Pantalon Carotte .

What's your ideal color palette?

Being a "mild autumn" my ideal palette is made up of warm and natural shades like Dreamy Twilight , Oat Chocolate or Chestnut.

Your most beautiful “sewing mistake”, the one that turned out to be brilliant?

I taught my husband how to sew because the sewing room is always busy when I need it... But what a joy to share this passion (and we always know what to give each other for birthdays)!

Would you prefer to sew with a creamy coffee, black coffee, tea, or hot chocolate?

More like Dirty Chai with oat milk.

This activity is like a superpower to me, it gives me confidence!

What is the one place you absolutely cannot go without your Barn?

Since it was sewn, I haven't taken it off!

Are you more of a country Barn or a city Barn person?

Equally at home in the city or the countryside, that's what I love about its versatile style.

If you had to give one piece of advice to those who want to start sewing LA Barn Jackets , what would it be?

My advice would simply be to dive in without fear, because even if sewing garments like jackets and coats can seem daunting, the materials used are so pleasant to work with that even the technical steps become easy! You just have to take your time and enjoy every detail!

If you were to sew a Barn Jacket again, what other color combinations would you recommend?

I absolutely fell in love with the full version Deep Charcoal by Alice, your in-store colleague. I also really like the combination Canvas Iced Mocha and Velvet Crispy Brownie. And why not consider a more colorful version for spring in Gabardine Bubble Gum? and Off-White for example, or even Leony Wide.

STYLE ASSOCIATION

AND FINALLY...

In three words, describe your experience with LA Barn Jacket Atelier Brunette.

Pleasure, satisfaction and pride.

What is your sewing mantra?

My sewing mantra is that nothing is too difficult and I can do it! You just have to dare!

Prince of Wales or Tartan ?

Team Tartan!

What sewing experience did you love the most and which was the most challenging?

On LA Barn Jacket, a 100% relaxed pleasure experience! Challenge level: LE Trench was a bigger challenge for me with all its topstitching details, and its welt pockets which scared me in this material ( Water Repellent Cotton ), but which ultimately proved to be a joy to sew!

Which Atelier Brunette piece would you dream of sewing next?

It's so hard to choose the next AB piece! Between LE Manteau, LE Jean Wide Leg , and LA Petite Robe, my heart is torn...

But they will all be sewn, that's for sure!
